Strapping machines

Strapping machines are essential in the packing process for securing boxes and pallets with strapping bands. These machines are designed to streamline your packaging operations, reducing both time and effort, especially during busy periods. If your workplace has a high-volume production line, an industrial strapping machine ensures your goods are securely fastened. With a strapping machine, the tensioning, cutting, and sealing of the strap are automated. This significantly increases the speed and efficiency of the strapping process by automatically tightening and securing the bands.

Strapping is a reliable method for securing items during transport and storage. It is suitable for a wide range of goods, from delicate items to bulky loads. Products can be strapped whether they are packed in cardboard or otherwise packaged. This process is mainly used for pallet strapping and bundling goods together. Strapping machines will boost your productivity and accelerate the packing process. They are also safe and straightforward for employees to operate.

We provide a comprehensive selection of high-quality and cost-effective strapping machines. On our website, you will find the following types of strapping machines:

  • Semi-automatic strapping machine
  • Automatic strapping machine
  • Pallet strapping machine

All strapping machines come with a warranty, ISO certification, CE marking and are serviced within Europe. Goods are collected EXW and all prices are exclusive of VAT.

Strapping machines

Strapping machines speed up the strapping process and help reduce operator fatigue by minimising the manual effort needed to strap and seal bundles. They are commonly used in medium to high-volume shipping environments, such as loading docks and fulfilment centres.

We offer a variety of automatic, semi-automatic, and pallet strapping machines to suit different packaging requirements and budgets. Our range includes machines capable of strapping nearly any parcel size or type, in a range of configurations.

Our selection features semi-automatic, automatic, and pallet strapping machines, including models equipped with conveyor belts. The versatility of our equipment means you do not need a dedicated pallet strapping machine or a plastic strapping machine – our machines can manage almost any load.

How do strapping machines work

Strapping machines are typically used with Polypropylene (PP) or Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) strapping. They provide rapid packaging and strapping. The plastic PP or PET strap is inserted into the machine and wrapped around the package. The semi-automatic machine allows for quick and straightforward strapping of packages.

Strapping machines are stable and deliver reliable, efficient strapping. No special training is required for operators using a semi-automatic machine. Our strapping machines are robust and require minimal maintenance. Both operation and strap replacement are simple. Semi-automatic strapping machines are very quiet thanks to modern DC motors and electronic voltage control, and are also suitable for thinner PP tapes. Furthermore, semi-automatic strapping machines are safe to use and do not require specialist training. A key benefit is the automatic tension adjustment to prevent damage to softer packages and better protect larger items. The machines are fairlynarrow, so they can easily be moved through tight spaces, yet robust enough for any environment. Workplace safety, user-friendliness, efficiency, time-saving packaging, and quality are all hallmarks of our semi-automatic strapping machines.

Semi-automatic strapping machines tension and heat-seal plastic strapping in medium to high-volume shipping settings, such as loading docks and fulfilment centres. The operator feeds the strapping around the package, and the machine automatically tensions and heat-seals it. This speeds up the process and reduces operator fatigue by removing the need for manual tensioning and sealing.

The cost of a strapping machine depends on several factors, but the return on investment can often be achieved within months, considering the time saved in packaging, increased productivity, and direct savings on banding clips and seals. Employees will also benefit from a safer and easier working environment.

Strapping machine prices range from approximately 700 to 20 000 EUR. The price of a strapping machine is influenced by its quality, stability, power, mobility, and strap width.

Which strapping machine should you choose?

As with most business decisions, your product should be the main consideration. Warehouses handling high volumes will require a different machine from those with occasional packaging needs. An efficient pallet strapping process is crucial for meeting customer demands and maintaining an organised workplace.

Automatic strapping machines

Automatic strapping machines are ideal for large-scale production. Once set up, simply place your parcel or box in position, press a button, and the process is completed in seconds. This includes tensioning and cutting, so you can quickly move on to the next item. Alternatively, automatic strapping machines can be integrated into a packing line for fully automated strapping.

Semi-automatic strapping machines

If you need to strap products quickly but are seeking a more budget-friendly option, a semi-automatic strapping machine is a practical choice. It requires a bit more operator involvement than the automatic models but still enhances efficiency. The main difference is that after placing the box or parcel on the machine, the operator feeds the strapping through and activates the machine. Once done, the semi-automatic strapping machine operates much like the automatic version.

Pallet strapping machines

Strapping machines for pallet strapping are designed to secure goods loaded on pallets. The pallet strapping machine is positioned by the pallet and applies the straps in the correct locations. The machine then tightens the straps around the goods.

Pallet strapping machines are ideal for logistics companies and large warehouses. A guide rail is placed under the pallet, allowing the strap to be manually positioned around the pallet and goods, after which the machine tensions, cuts, and welds the strap. Securing heavy Euro pallets takes only moments and saves staff from laborious manual work.

How to set up a strapping machine

Begin by switching on the strapping machine. Next, set the strap feed and tension to your requirements. To adjust the feed length, hold down the ‘Feed’ button – the longer you press, the more strap is dispensed. If the semi-automatic strapping machine is not in its home position, press the ‘HOME’ button to reset it. These machines are designed with high safety standards; if the lid is opened, the machine will automatically stop operation.

Once the plastic strapping is loaded, pull the strap from the reel and check that the strap head is facing downwards. If not, reposition the reel. Feed the strap beneath pulley A, then over pulley B. Next, guide the strap through wheel C and up into slot D on the lower board. Continue threading upwards with the guide roll to the gap between the rollers. Press the ‘FEED’ button to dispense the strap automatically.

Strapping bands for strapping machines

Some strapping machines use polypropylene (PP) strapping, while others are suitable for PET strapping. Strap widths vary, with most machines accommodating from 5 mm up to 15 mm, and certain models allowing even wider bands. Our most popular semi-automatic strapping machine, the HIPO model, is compatible with PP strapping in widths from 5 mm to 15 mm.

Maintaining your strapping machine

Please note, we do not offer onsite repairs for semi-automatic strapping machines. However, we do supply spare parts for your machine, along with a comprehensive manual and a detailed spare parts diagram.

Storing and transporting your strapping machine

For long-term storage or transport over long distances, the strapping machine should be packed in a wooden or hardboard crate, secured to a solid base, and a moisture absorber placed inside. Apply anti-rust spray within the machine. Do not place heavy items on top of the crate, and never store or transport the machine upside down.
