Industrial equipment for warehouses and factories

Industrial equipment in this section covers battery powered scissor lifts for working at height and thermal inkjet printers for pack marking. These machines are intended for use in warehouses and factories.

There are two groups: scissor lifts, with models AS-X6 and AS-X1012, and thermal inkjet printers, with models GT-100E, ST-210S-H1 and ST-210S-H2. Each model is listed below with its main specifications.

Each group page provides a comparison table of its models and answers to common buyer questions. An overview table of all five industrial equipment products is shown after the product listings.

Scissor lifts as warehouse equipment for working at height

SMITH AS-X6 electric scissor lift, platform lowered, extension deck extendedScissor lifts are industrial equipment designed for safe access at height in warehouse settings. The AS-X6 is an electric scissor lift for indoor use only, offering a working height of 7.8 m, a load capacity of 230 kg and space for two people on the platform. Its width is 0.76 m.

The AS-X1012 is an electric scissor lift suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with a working height of 12 m and a load capacity of 320 kg. It can hold two people indoors or one person outdoors.

Scissor lifts are used for a range of maintenance tasks at height in a warehouse, such as changing aisle lighting, repairing or adjusting racking, installing new cables or pipes along ceilings, fixing safety signage or cleaning high-level windows. For instance, a team may use the AS-X6 in a narrow aisle to replace a damaged beam at the top of the racking, while the AS-X1012 is suitable for outdoor jobs like installing lighting on a loading bay.

When selecting a lift, measure the highest point you need to reach and note that the working height is the platform height plus roughly 2 m. The AS-X6 is 0.76 m wide, allowing it to pass through narrow aisles and most doorways. The AS-X1012 is 1.15 m wide and requires wider access, but is the model to choose for outdoor work: only one person should be on the platform outdoors, and never operate if wind speeds may exceed 12.5 m/s.

Both lifts are battery powered and self-propelled, so they can be moved wherever required, with no exhaust emissions. This allows the lift to operate while the warehouse remains in use. Pothole protection deploys automatically when the platform is raised, and a tilt alarm sounds if the lift is on too steep a slope. The Scissor Lifts page explains these safety features and the differences between the two models in detail.

Thermal inkjet printers as equipment for marking packs in factories

GT-100E handheld thermal inkjet printer printing a date and QR code on a cartonThermal inkjet printers are industrial equipment used to print codes, dates and barcodes on packs in factory environments. The GT-100E is a handheld thermal inkjet printer with a battery, able to print codes from 1 to 12.7 mm high. The ST-210S-H1 is a thermal inkjet printer mounted on a line, with a single print head for codes up to 12.7 mm high.

The ST-210S-H2 is a thermal inkjet printer for line mounting, with two print heads for codes up to 25.4 mm high or for printing in two positions on a single pack. All printers use 42 ml cartridges and can print text, dates, counters, barcodes and QR codes.

Codes are typically printed at two main stages in a factory. You may print a batch number or best-before date directly onto each product pack before boxing, or print a barcode on the sealed box at the end of the line.

Printed data can be fixed or variable, such as a counter that increases with each box. The handheld GT-100E is suitable for items not on a conveyor, like pipes, panels or boxes already palletised. The ST-210S-H1 and ST-210S-H2 are installed on the line and can receive data from your own system via the network port, making them ideal for automated lines where codes must match production data.

Each 42 ml cartridge has its own nozzles, so every new cartridge provides fresh nozzles and there is no permanent print head to maintain. The ink must suit the surface: water-based ink is for cartons and paper, while solvent ink is required for film, metal and glass. For example, if you are packing in shrink film, solvent ink ensures the code remains intact.

Overview table of industrial equipment models

The table below compares all five industrial equipment products by their main specifications.

To use the overview table, begin with the type column, which shows whether a product is a scissor lift or a thermal inkjet printer. The key figures column lists the main data: for lifts, this is working height and platform capacity; for printers, it is the maximum code height. For more detailed comparisons, see the tables on the group pages for extra features and differences between models.

Product Type Key figures Group

Purchasing industrial equipment

Each product card offers three options: Add to cart, Get offer and Add to inquiry. Add to cart places an immediate order, Get offer requests a quotation, and Add to inquiry lets you combine several products in one request.

All five machines are supplied with a 12-month warranty; the comparison tables on the group pages highlight the differences between models.

Use Add to cart if the machine meets your requirements as listed, for example if you need a single scissor lift or printer. Select Get offer if you require a quotation, such as for additional cartridges for a printer or multiple units of the same model. Add to inquiry is helpful if you wish to request both lifts and printers together, for instance when setting up a new packing area and needing several types of equipment at once.

When making an enquiry, please describe your requirements as precisely as possible. For a lift, specify the heights you need to access and the loads to be lifted. For a printer, provide details of the surface to be marked, the content of the code and the line speed. It is advisable to order cartridges together with the printer, so you can begin marking immediately upon collection. For lifts, the batteries are the main component that will require replacement over time; these are changed as needed, rather than kept in stock.

Points to check before purchasing a lift

Before selecting a lift for working at height, consider the working height required, the combined weight of people, tools and materials on the platform, whether the tasks are indoors or outdoors, and the type of floor the lift will be used on. The Scissor Lifts page covers each of these aspects in detail.

The platform should be able to reach roughly 2 m below the highest point you need to access: for example, to reach a beam at 6 m, a platform height of about 4 m is needed. Add up the weight of all people, tools and materials to be lifted. The total load must not exceed 230 kg for the AS-X6 or 320 kg for the AS-X1012.

Check the width of your doors and aisles against the machine dimensions: the AS-X6 is 0.76 m wide, while the AS-X1012 is 1.15 m. Operators must be trained on the specific machine, and at the start of each shift, a safety check is carried out to ensure the lift is safe for use. This includes checking the battery level and all safety features.

Points to check before purchasing a printer

ST-210S-H1 print head mounted on a bracket above a roller conveyor, with the controller positioned behindBefore choosing a printer for marking packs, consider the surface and the type of ink required, the height of the code, the speed of the line and the source of the data. The Thermal inkjet printers page explains these factors for all three models.

Each print head produces a code height of 12.7 mm, so the ST-210S-H2, with two heads, can print up to 25.4 mm high or print in two positions on a single pack. For instance, if your carton requires characters larger than 12.7 mm, such as a prominent date and batch line, the ST-210S-H2 is the suitable model.

Print resolution and line speed are related: all three printers can print at up to 406 m/min at 90 DPI. At maximum resolution, the ST-210S printers reach up to 60 m/min at 600 DPI, while the GT-100E achieves up to 120 m/min at 300 DPI. Data for printing can be entered directly on the printer’s screen or sent from your own system. If you require a network connection, select an ST-210S printer. Always test the ink on your own packaging before starting production to ensure proper adhesion and drying.

Preparing for the arrival of your industrial machinery

Before your industrial machinery is collected, check the power supply and socket, the available space and the access route into your premises, and decide who will be trained to operate the machine.

Lifts should be charged from a socket located away from busy areas, so plan a charging point that does not obstruct aisles; the lift can be parked there between uses, out of the way of forklifts. Fixed printers require a dedicated, grounded socket, not shared with other machines, and ideally a UPS, as recommended by the manufacturer. For printers, keep spare cartridges at the line from the outset to prevent downtime.

A printer installed on a line must have a secure bracket in a position free from vibration, as vibration can affect print quality. Check the route for moving the lift from the unloading area: ensure it fits through all doors, aisles and any goods lifts on the way to its working location. When the machine is collected, inspect it and its packaging, and record any damage on the collection note before signing.

Decide in advance who will be responsible for changing cartridges and editing print texts on the printer, and who will operate the lift, and ensure they are trained before the first shift. For printers, have the required texts and codes ready so the first print can be set up on day one.
