How does a cardboard shredder work?

While a cardboard shredder is not identical to a paper shredder, it operates in a similar fashion. The gearbox, motor, and cutting block work together to process the cardboard. Depending on the model, the cardboard is turned into small chips, long strips, or perforated sheets.

For shredding, the cardboard shredder uses two drive shafts with separate drive units: a slow feeder and a faster shredder that reduces cardboard boxes to the required size. Segments made from special tear-resistant steel are arranged around the shredder rotor, alternating outward and inward. As the shaft rotates, it creates a swirling motion for effective shredding. The large rotors can handle even bulky cardboard boxes, as well as polystyrene and fruit boxes. Additionally, the feeder and shredder rotors have a special scraper system to prevent material from wrapping around the shafts and to maintain a consistent feed.
