HAMMER is an automatic horizontal strapping machine: it applies one or more horizontal straps around a pallet load, heat-sealing each strap at the side. The load itself remains stationary. The horizontal arch moves up and down the machine’s uprights, securing each strap around the stack, so tall loads are held together layer by layer for storage and transport.

The standard arch has internal dimensions of 1500 × 1500 mm and accommodates loads from 500–1500 mm in length, 1000–1500 mm in width, and 800–2500 mm in height; other arch sizes can be manufactured to order. Each strap cycle takes within 15 seconds maximum, tension is adjustable up to 90 kg, and the machine operates with Suitable for PP or PET strapping, 9–15 mm in width.

HAMMER is designed for production lines and can be integrated above a roller conveyor. It is controlled by a Siemens PLC with a touch screen, offering manual, automatic, or continuous operation. Used together with the ARCUS vertical pallet strapping machine, a single line can secure loads both vertically and horizontally.

Operation of horizontal strapping on the HAMMER

1. Switch on the circuit breaker: the power indicator will illuminate, and the heater requires about 30 seconds to reach operating temperature.
2. Select the required number of straps per load using the control panel.
3. Position the load centrally within the arch, for example using a roller conveyor.
4. A sensor identifies the presence of the pallet, prompting the strapping unit to advance until its travel switch makes contact with the load.
5. The arch moves to each required strap height in sequence, securing a strap around the load at each level.
6. To apply a single strap, simply press the strap button. The emergency stop button can interrupt the machine at any stage.

Step-by-step process of the HAMMER strapping machine’s sealing cycle

1. The strap is positioned correctly and the machine receives the signal to begin strapping.
2. The right upper knife lifts and secures the end of the strap against the slide.
3. The strap retraction motor withdraws the strap in 0.35 seconds, tightening it around the load.
4. The swing arm applies a second tightening to the strap.
5. The left upper knife rises and presses down on the lower layer of the strap.
6. The heater moves between the two layers of strap, while the central upper knife rises to cut the strap and press the layers together firmly.
7. The knives and heater return to their original positions, and both the slide and T guide plate retract.
8. The feed motor advances new strap into place against the T guide plate, and the main motor halts: the machine is now ready for the next strapping cycle.

Points to consider before purchasing a horizontal pallet strapping machine

• Strap width The strap path is configured for your chosen strap, from 9 to 15 mm wide and 0.55 to 1.0 mm thick; please specify both width and thickness when placing your order.
• Strap coil specification PP or PET strap supplied on coils with a 200–210 mm core and an outer diameter of 400–500 mm.
• Load dimensions The largest load must fit within the arch. The standard 1500 × 1500 mm arch accommodates loads up to 1500 × 1500 mm and from 800 to 2500 mm in height; alternative arch sizes are available to order.
• Electrical and pneumatic requirements 380 V, 50/60 Hz, three-phase (3-phase, 4-wire with earth), 3.1 kW, 8 A, and compressed air at 0.4–0.6 MPa.
• Space requirements and machine weight 1930 × 3320 × 2800 mm (W × D × H), 350 kg.
• Collection and installation. Delivered to your address (DAP) · export price without VAT; export customs clearance at a fixed fee; import VAT and duties are paid by the buyer. The machine is partly disassembled in wooden crates. The arch is attached during installation, and a forklift is required to move the machine.
• Maintenance. Lubricate the oil points specified in the manual at regular intervals. If the seals become less effective due to significant changes in room temperature, adjust the heater setting accordingly.
