The SMARTWRAP B3 is a carton wrapping machine with pre-stretch: cartons are placed on an 800 mm turntable, held securely by a top press, while the film carriage wraps stretch film from base to top and back again.

The carriage pre-stretches the film by 300% before it is applied, so each metre of film on the roll covers several metres around the cartons.

It can wrap loads up to 900 mm in height and up to 1000 kg. The turntable speed reaches 12 rpm and the carriage moves at up to 5.5 m per minute, both adjustable via the touchscreen.

Operates on single-phase 220–240 V power, 1.5 kW, and is fitted with castors for easy movement to your packing area.

Selecting and operating the SMARTWRAP B3 PRESTRETCH

Frequent errors include incorrectly threading the film, using rolls that do not meet the specified width or diameter, and not adjusting the wrapping force for different loads. To prevent film snapping or loose wrapping, always use stretch film that is suitable for the pre-stretch system and monitor film tension during use. Check regularly that the top press is correctly set to secure the load without damaging it, especially when wrapping delicate or lightweight cartons.

When integrating the machine into a packaging line, check that its output rate is compatible with both preceding and following processes. The SMARTWRAP B3 PRESTRETCH is commonly placed at the end of a manual packing line, but may also be set up close to storage areas for batch wrapping of completed products. During installation planning, ensure there is sufficient space for the operator to work safely around the machine and for short-term storage of wrapped pallets.

Operating the SMARTWRAP B3

1. Fit the film roll onto the carriage and thread the film through the rollers as indicated, with the cling side facing the load.
2. Position the cartons centrally on the turntable and secure the film end to the load.
3. Select either standard or top-sheet mode on the touchscreen and check the number of turns and the wrapping force.
4. Press start: the turntable rotates and the carriage wraps the load from bottom to top and back down.
5. Once the turntable returns to its starting point, cut the film manually and remove the wrapped load.

Settings and maintenance

• Wrapping force. Adjustable from 0 to 100: higher settings apply more tension to the film around the load.
• Number of turns. Begin with 2 turns at the base and 2 at the top, plus 1 full up-and-down cycle, then adjust as needed for your load.
• Daily inspection. Test the emergency stop and carriage safety plate before starting work.
• Cleaning. Wipe the machine with a dry cloth or mild detergent; do not use solvents or petrol.
• Carriage rollers. If the film slips, clean the rollers with alcohol to remove adhesive residue.
• Lubrication. Oil the column bearings and lubricate and tension the drive chains as outlined in the manual.
