HIPO ULTRA automatic strapping machine with a 1050 × 800 mm arch

HIPO ULTRA automatic strapping machine with touch screen, strap dispenser and adjustable tableThe HIPO ULTRA is a fully automatic strapping machine designed for cartons, boxes, newspapers, magazines and similar packages. Simply place the item on the table and the machine will feed the PP strap around it, apply tension, seal it underneath using a hot-melt weld, and cut the strap – at speeds of up to 75 cycles per minute. This model features an internal arch size of 1050 mm width by 800 mm height, custom-built to our requirements, allowing for much larger packages than the standard 650 × 500 mm arch.

This machine uses polypropylene strap 5 mm or 6 mm wide and 0.5–0.8 mm thick; the width is specified at the time of order. Tension can be set between 0 and 45 kg. The table height is adjustable from 850 to 950 mm, and it can strap items weighing up to 80 kg.

A PLC with a rotating touch screen provides control, and a DC brushless motor powers the machine. If a fault occurs, a warning indicates the cause of the stoppage. You may strap each item individually using the button or foot switch, or allow the table sensor to automatically start the strapping process when a package is placed.

The manufacturer produces this machine for use in printing, logistics and manufacturing sectors, especially for lighter goods. It operates on a standard 220 V single-phase electrical supply.

Automatic strapping machine in use

How this banding machine supports your packaging process

  • Accommodates large packages. The 1050 × 800 mm arch is considerably bigger than the manufacturer’s standard 650 × 500 mm, allowing larger cartons and bundles to pass through.
  • Keeps up with your workflow. Handles up to 75 straps per minute, enabling one machine to manage a high-volume packing area.
  • Consistent tension for every pack. Adjust once on the touchscreen, from 0 to 45 kg: gentle for delicate cartons, secure for heavier loads.
  • Automatic operation. In automatic mode, the table sensor triggers the strap when a pack is placed; in manual mode, use the button or foot pedal.
  • Ergonomic working height. The table height can be set between 850 and 950 mm to accommodate the operator.
  • Minimal downtime. Automatic strap loading, on-screen fault alerts and maintenance without tools help to reduce interruptions.
  • Single-phase electrical supply. Operates on a 220 V single-phase connection and uses 0.9 kW, so a three-phase supply is not required.

Controls, sealing and safety features of the strapping machine

  • PLC system with a rotating touch screen and fault indication
  • Brushless DC motor
  • Hot-melt bottom seal with electronic temperature regulation for the heater
  • Automatic strap insertion and automatic detection when the strap runs out
  • Separate dispenser release switch for straightforward strap replacement
  • Table sensor for automatic operation and a foot pedal for manual strapping
  • Schneider control buttons and relays; P+F or FOTEK proximity sensors
  • Mobile unit on castors, featuring a spacious table and a large-capacity strap reel
  • Warning labels at hazardous areas and covers over live electrical components
  • Sound level does not exceed 75 dB(A)

Operating instructions for the HIPO ULTRA strapping machine

  1. Fit the PP strap reel onto the dispenser, ensuring the direction matches the arrow on the outer flange.
  2. Switch on the power and guide the strap as indicated on the label; once the strap end is between the pre-feed rollers, the machine will automatically feed it through the arch.
  3. Adjust the strap tension, heater temperature and cooling time using the touch screen.
  4. Allow the heater to reach its operating temperature.
  5. Select manual mode – one strap cycle per press of the button or foot pedal – or automatic mode, where the table sensor activates strapping when a package is placed.
  6. Position the package centrally on the table and ensure your hands are clear of the strapping area.

Plastic strapping adjustments, servicing and typical issues

  • Strap tension Adjust via the touch screen; the default factory setting is 4, with higher numbers providing greater tension. Alter in small increments.
  • Heater temperature and cooling duration. Both are controlled on the touch screen. Modify the heater temperature if the ambient temperature varies significantly, and set the cooling duration to suit your strap and tension.
  • Strap loaded in the magazine Maintain approximately 1.5 times the arch and strap path length in the accumulator box. Excess strap may cause jams, while insufficient strap can result in short feeds – and a larger arch requires more strap than a standard one.
  • Weak seals. This is usually due to the heater temperature being set too high or too low, or the heater plate becoming worn after extended use and needing replacement.
  • Loose straps. The tension setting may be too low, or the tension roller could be worn.
  • Strap not advancing Ensure the coil is fitted correctly, the strap end is positioned between the pre-feeding rollers, and the accumulator contains sufficient strap. Regularly remove strap dust from the strap path.
  • Servicing. Lubricate the cam running surfaces and rollers weekly with N68 oil, and inspect the proximity switches regularly. Switch off and allow the heater to cool for around 5 minutes before carrying out any work on the machine.

Before purchasing an arch strapping machine

HIPO ULTRA strapping machine details: foot bar, strapping head, touch screen and table sensorThe price is displayed on this page. Several factors determine whether the machine is suitable for your packages: please review these before requesting a quotation, or forward them to us and we will discuss them with you.

  • Package size and weight. Your largest package must fit through the 1050 × 800 mm arch, the smallest should measure at least 100 mm wide and 60 mm high, and packages may weigh up to 80 kg.
  • Strapping material For use with PP strap only, 5 mm or 6 mm wide and 0.5–0.8 mm thick, on coils with a 200–210 mm core and a 400–450 mm outside diameter. Not suitable for paper, PET or steel strap.
  • Electrical supply. Requires a 220 V, 50/60 Hz single-phase connection; the machine uses 0.9 kW and draws 4 A.
  • Space and flooring. With this arch, the machine is larger than the manufacturer’s standard version, so we confirm precise dimensions with your quotation; the shipping weight is approximately 230 kg. Please allow at least 2000 × 1500 mm of working area and flooring rated for 350 kg/m², in a dry, well-ventilated environment.
  • Handling. Use a forklift under the frame to move the machine, never under the arch, and position it using its castors.
  • Food, pharmaceuticals and corrosive products. For food and pharmaceutical use, the manufacturer advises a stainless-steel model. With corrosive items such as seafood, ensure liquids do not enter the strapping head.
