HIPO ULTRA-B automatic strapping machine with conveyor and 850 × 800 mm frame opening

HIPO ULTRA-B automatic strapping machine with conveyor beltThe HIPO ULTRA-B is an automatic strapping machine equipped with its own conveyor: the belt moves the package into the arch, a sensor initiates the cycle, the machine applies a PP strap around the item, seals it beneath, and advances it – achieving up to 50 straps per minute, all without manual handling. This model features an arch with an internal width of 850 mm and height of 800 mm, custom-built to our requirements; the standard arch from the manufacturer is 650 × 500 mm.

It operates with polypropylene strap 5 or 6 mm wide and 0.5–0.8 mm thick – please specify your preferred width when ordering – and secures the strap using a hot-melt weld beneath the package. Tension can be set up to 30 kg, the worktable stands at 850 mm high, and the maximum package weight is 80 kg.

HIPO ULTRA-B strapping head positioned above conveyor beltA PLC with touch screen controls the machine: the display tracks cycle counts, shows alarms, and allows adjustment of strap feed, withdrawal, and cooling times. Two operating modes are available – automatic, where the sensor triggers strapping for each package, and convey, where the belt simply transports items without strapping.

Designed for use on packing lines in warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing, handling cartons, boxes, newspapers or magazines without the need for an operator at the machine. Requires a standard 220 V single-phase electrical supply and consumes 1.0 kW.

How the conveyor improves your packaging process

  • No operator required at the machine. The conveyor brings the item in, the sensor activates the cycle, and the strapped item exits automatically.
  • 50 straps per minute. Sufficient speed to maintain workflow, with consistent strap application and sealing on every item.
  • Accommodates larger items. The 850 × 800 mm frame allows for much larger cartons than the manufacturer’s standard 650 × 500 mm frame.
  • Conveying without strapping. In convey mode, the belt simply moves items through, so the machine remains in place for batches that do not require strapping.
  • Single screen setup. Tension up to 30 kg, heater temperature, strap feed and cooling time are all configured via the touch screen and repeated for each item.
  • Standard mains supply. 220 V single phase, 1.0 kW and 6 A – no need for a three-phase connection.
  • Quiet for packaging areas. Sound level remains at or below 75 dB(A).

Controls, sealing and safety features

  • PLC control with touch screen: cycle counter, alarm log and parameter settings
  • Two operating modes: automatic strapping triggered by the sensor, or convey-only mode
  • Conveyor belt with the strapping head positioned above
  • Automatic strap loading and automatic detection when the strap runs out
  • Electronic control of heater temperature; hot-melt seal applied beneath the package
  • Start button, power light and emergency stop located on the control panel
  • Warning labels at hazardous areas and protective covers over live components
  • Spacious work surface and a high-capacity strap reel mounted on the side
  • Arch manufactured to specification: 850 × 800 mm on this model, 650 × 500 mm as the manufacturer’s standard size
  • Noise emission does not exceed 75 dB(A)

Operating instructions for the HIPO ULTRA-B strapping machine

  1. Switch on the machine; the power light will illuminate.
  2. Install the PP strap reel as indicated by the arrow on the outer flange, and feed the strap into the inlet up to the pre-feed rollers.
  3. Press the manual (inching) button: the machine will fill the accumulator box and automatically feed the strap through the arch.
  4. Wait for the heater plate to reach its operating temperature.
  5. Select the operating mode: automatic, where the sensor initiates a strap for each package, or convey, where only the belt moves.
  6. Allow the conveyor to move the package to the centre of the arch and keep hands clear of the strapping area.

Settings, maintenance and typical issues

  • Strap tension Adjusted via the touch screen; a higher value increases tension, up to 30 kg. Make small adjustments and check the package each time.
  • Heater setting and cooling duration Both are set using the touch screen. Alter the heater temperature if the ambient temperature varies significantly, and adjust cooling time to suit the strap and tension selected.
  • Strap capacity in magazine Maintain approximately 1.5 times the strap path length in the accumulator box: excess strap may cause jams, while too little can result in short feeds. The larger arch requires more strap than the standard version.
  • Weak seals. This is usually due to the heater temperature being set too high or too low, or the heater plate becoming worn after extended use and needing replacement.
  • Loose straps. The tension setting may be too low, or the tension roller could be worn.
  • Strap not feeding. Ensure the reel is fitted correctly, the strap end is positioned between the pre-feed rollers, and the accumulator contains sufficient strap; regularly remove strap dust from the strap path.
  • Maintenance. Lubricate the cam surfaces and rollers weekly with N68 oil, and inspect the proximity switches frequently. Always switch off and allow the heater to cool for approximately five minutes before carrying out any maintenance.

Before purchasing a strapping machine with conveyor

HIPO ULTRA-B control panel and strap reelThe price is displayed on this page. Several factors determine whether this machine is suitable for your production line: please review these before requesting a quotation, or forward them to us and we will discuss them with you.

  • Package dimensions and weight. The package must fit through the 850 × 800 mm frame; the minimum package size is 80 mm wide by 60 mm high, and the maximum weight is 80 kg.
  • Strap width Please specify whether you use 5 mm or 6 mm strap, as the strap path is configured for that width. The strap should be PP, 0.5–0.8 mm thick, supplied on reels with a 200–210 mm core, a 400–450 mm outer diameter, and a width of 175–190 mm.
  • Electrical requirements. 220 V, 50 Hz single-phase supply; the machine consumes 1.0 kW and 6 A.
  • Space and flooring. With this frame, the machine is larger than the standard version (1414 × 728 × 1738 mm), so we confirm the precise measurements with your quotation; the shipping weight is approximately 390 kg. Please allow at least 2000 × 1500 mm of working area and ensure the floor is rated for 350 kg/m².
  • Conveyor height The working table stands at 850 mm, so arrange the conveyors before and after the machine at the same height.
  • Food, pharmaceuticals and corrosive products. For food and pharmaceutical applications, the manufacturer advises a stainless-steel model; for corrosive items such as seafood, ensure liquids do not enter the strapping head.
