The AUTO&FOLD-5050 is an automatic carton sealing machine that automatically sets itself to the dimensions of each carton: pneumatic cylinders move the side belts to the correct width and lower the upper tape head to the appropriate height. The machine folds the front, rear and both side flaps, then seals the top and bottom in a single operation, with the side belts transporting the carton through at 16 m/min.

It handles cartons from L200 × W150 × H150 mm up to L600 × W500 × H500 mm and is compatible with Kraft or BOPP adhesive tape 48–60 mm wide. As the width and height adjust to each carton, different sizes can be processed consecutively.

The machine operates on single-phase 220 V, 50–60 Hz and consumes 200 W; the size adjustment and flap folding functions are powered by compressed air at 6 bar (6 kg/cm²) with a usage of 100 Nl/min. A safety enclosure with doors covers the folding section, and the control panel includes start and stop controls, an emergency stop and pressure gauges.

Operating instructions for the AUTO&FOLD-5050 carton sealing machine

1. Connect to single-phase 220 V power and supply compressed air at 6 bar; empty the water separator and check the oil level in the lubricator.
2. Insert a roll of Kraft or BOPP tape, 48–60 mm wide, into both the upper and lower tape heads, centre it, and thread it with the adhesive side facing outward.
3. Adjust the pressure settings for the side drive belts, lifting cylinder, and flap folding mechanism using the regulators.
4. Open the folding rods to match the width of your cartons, ensuring both sides are symmetrical, and set the length switch for the required carton length.
5. Press ON and feed the carton in with the top flaps open and upright. The belts will draw it in, the machine will close the flaps in sequence, and apply tape to both the top and bottom.
6. Remove the sealed carton at the outfeed; you may now process a carton of a different size.

To prevent jams or poor sealing, operators should check that cartons are within the specified size range, not overfilled, and that the flaps are properly folded. Regular cleaning of the tape heads and drive belts, along with draining the water separator, will help ensure reliable operation.

Adjustments, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting

• Cylinder operating pressure. Set as low as the carton strength permits – excessive pressure may crush lightweight cartons.
• Minimum carton length. Adjust the micro switch along the slot in the frame to alter the timing of the rear flap folding.
• Tape tension too high or too low. Adjust the main spring on the tape head; thicker tapes such as Kraft require increased tension.
• Tape leg too long or too short. Adjust the blade support for the front leg and the limit block for the rear leg accordingly.
• Poor cut or creased tape. Replace a blunt blade or fit it correctly; clean the rubber roller and ensure the tape holder is secure.
• Maintenance. Always disconnect power and air before carrying out any work. Regularly drain the water separator and use only pneumatic oil in the lubricator; clean the cylinder rods; lubricate the screw rods and chain every three months; keep the blade clean and oiled, and ensure the machine remains dry. The belts may become slightly tighter over time – this is normal.
