Textile straps in 16mm or 19mm widthsThe use of textile strap in packaging is increasingly widespread. Textile tape is an excellent alternative to steel strapping, being more economical, lighter, safer, and easier to handle. These straps are manufactured from polyester fibres, with variations in the method of fibre connection. During production, polyester fibres are bonded to the tape using hot adhesive. As the tape undergoes minimal further processing, it remains cost-effective. It is supplied wound on a core with a 76 mm internal diameter. Woven bands, in contrast to other types, are not produced using adhesive processes. The individual polyester fibres are interlaced, resulting in high tensile strength and resistance to sharp edges. For straps not produced by adhesive bonding, phosphate buckles are recommended. These are also supplied on a 76 mm core. All textile straps provide excellent shock absorption and allow for retensioning when used with specific metal buckles. Textile straps are available in widths from 13 mm to 35 mm, with tensile strengths ranging from 300 kg to 1600 kg.

Textile strap – construction

The textile strap is produced from hot thermoplastic fibres. Depending on the width and the number of fibres, the 13 mm strap can support up to 390 kg, while the 35 mm version can handle up to 1400 kg. The hot adhesive gives the strap a wax-like appearance. Where metal buckles are incorporated, the application can be tailored to specific requirements. Among all polyester-based strapping, textile tape is regarded as the most standard and cost-effective. It is suitable for a wide range of packaging applications, provided the products do not have sharp edges and are not hot at the time of strapping. These straps are made from polyester fibres, which may be integrated into a polymer coating (composite straps), bonded with adhesive (thermoplastic), or woven (woven straps). The strap’s tensile strength and elongation characteristics are comparable to those of steel strapping. Thanks to these properties and the advantages listed below, this product is now widely used in industries such as timber, mining, construction, and packaging waste.

Textile straps in 16mm or 19mm widthsFeatures of textile strap

  • Textile strap offers greater safety in use compared to steel
  • Lower overall expenditure
  • Will not cause damage to the items being secured
  • They are capable of withstanding significant tension and offer excellent shock absorption
  • Custom printing is available on these straps
  • They are lighter and more convenient to handle
  • They provide greater resistance to chemicals and weather conditions (will not rust or decay)
  • These can be used again
  • User-friendly tools are available for securing composite strap
  • Textile straps may be tensioned manually or with pneumatic strapping tools. They can be secured with a dedicated clip or simply tied in a knot (note: knotting is not suitable for composite straps).
