TONNA E60 box baler

The TONNA E60 is a vertical box baler designed for compressing cardboard and plastic film. Loose waste that would otherwise fill a container is compacted into a strapped bale, which can be stacked on a pallet and sold to recyclers, turning a disposal cost into a source of revenue.

This model applies a pressing force of 3 tonnes (30 kN), producing bales weighing 30 to 50 kg for cardboard and 40 to 60 kg for film. Each bale measures 70 × 50 × 70 cm; the width and depth are fixed, while the operator selects the height.

Each cycle lasts 27 seconds and consumes 0.008 kWh. The machine automatically starts the pressing cycle when the top door is closed and notifies the operator when the bale is complete, making operation straightforward.

The baler operates from a standard 230 V socket with a 1.5 kW motor, drawing 11 A. Its dimensions are 83 × 70 × 193 cm, it weighs 250 kg, and it runs quietly at 68 dB measured at a distance of one metre.

Typical applications for the TONNA E60

The TONNA E60 box baler is commonly found in retail, supermarkets, catering, hospitality, warehouses and light industry. It is ideal for businesses that regularly handle cardboard boxes and plastic film from packaging, logistics or food service. Typical uses include shop backrooms, restaurant storerooms, small distribution hubs, and production areas where space is at a premium and waste is managed daily.

The box baler integrates easily into workflows where packaging waste is generated throughout the working day.

How a baler saves you money

  • Reduced volume, fewer collections. Loose cardboard is mostly empty space. Once baled, the waste takes up much less room and your container needs emptying far less frequently.
  • Waste with value. Recyclers pay for clean, tied bales of cardboard and plastic film; loose, mixed waste costs you to dispose of.
  • Operated by one person, no training required. Load the material, close the top door and the press runs automatically. The baler indicates when the bale is ready.
  • Handles two materials. Separate settings for cardboard and plastic film ensure each is baled to hold together securely.
  • Standard plug connection. 230 V, 1.5 kW, 11 A on a C 16 circuit breaker. No need for three-phase power or compressed air.
  • Compact for back rooms. 83 × 70 × 193 cm and 250 kg, with a quiet 68 dB operation, suitable for use near a shop floor or kitchen.

How to produce a bale

  1. Feed the strapping through the holes in the lower door and lay them across the chamber.
  2. Open the upper door, load your cardboard or film, then close the door: the press plate lowers automatically.
  3. Repeat the process until the baler signals the bale is full.
  4. Raise the press plate, pull the straps over the material, close the door and lower the plate again, then tie the straps while the plate is down.
  5. Lift the plate, open both doors while standing to the side, and remove the bale onto a trolley or pallet.

Operation and maintenance

  • Stand to the side. Open the doors from the side of the baler. A compressed bale may force the door open as the material expands.
  • Bale height. Width and depth are fixed; you choose the height. For a smaller bale, hold the green button for five seconds and the plate will stop lower.
  • Tie with the plate down. Secure the straps while the plate is pressing. If tied after raising, the bale will expand.
  • Indoors and dry. The baler is designed for use in a closed, dry environment on a stable, level surface, with ventilation.
  • Oil. Eight litres of ISO/DIN 6743/4 grade oil. Check the oil level and inspect for leaks as part of your daily routine.
  • Electrics. 230 V via plug, on a C 16 circuit breaker, to be connected by a qualified electrician. IP56 protects against dust and water jets, but do not wash the baler with a hose.

Before you buy

The price is shown on this page. A baler should be chosen for the waste you actually generate, so please check the following before purchasing:

  • How much waste. A 30–50 kg cardboard bale replaces a large volume of loose material. Count how many containers you fill each week.
  • Cardboard or film. The baler has a setting for each. Please state which material you have in greater quantity.
  • Where the bale goes. 70 × 50 × 70 cm, weighing up to 60 kg: you will need a pallet, a trolley and a clear route out of the premises.
  • The room. 83 × 70 × 193 cm, 250 kg, to be placed on a level, dry, well-ventilated indoor floor. The ceiling must be at least 193 cm high plus clearance for the open door.
  • The supply. Requires a 230 V socket on a C 16 circuit breaker within easy reach of the box baler.
  • Straps. Bales are secured manually with strapping threaded through the lower door. Please allow for strapping as a consumable item.
