The TONNA 240L is a bin compactor for 240-litre waste bins. The bin is placed on the platform, and a hydraulic plate compresses the contents, allowing the bin to hold significantly more waste before emptying is required.

It delivers a pressing force of up to 2 tonnes per cycle, with each cycle lasting 20 seconds.

Operates on 230 V single-phase power, with a 1.5 kW motor and 16 A connection, producing a noise level of 72 dB.

Operator duties and routine checks: TONNA 240L bin compactor

Before each use, the operator must ensure the bin is intact and free from any forbidden materials. The arms should be adjusted to secure the bin firmly. During compaction, hands must be kept away from moving parts and the operator should monitor for any abnormal sounds or movement.

Always follow the operator manual for safe operation and wear appropriate gloves and safety footwear. Clean the compactor regularly to avoid waste accumulation around the platform and moving components.

How to operate

1. Position the bin on the platform with the lid facing outwards.
2. Adjust the arms to match the width of the bin.
3. Press and hold the green ON button and push the lever down: the pressing plate will compact the waste until it stops automatically.
4. Hold ON and lift the lever up to raise the plate again.
5. Continue filling and pressing until the bin is full; if the press does not operate, press OFF to reset.

Location and maintenance

• Location. Ideally used indoors or under shelter, on a firm, level surface, with good ventilation and lighting; adjust all four feet so the press stands stable.
• Electrical supply. 220–230 V single phase, 16 amp, isolator within 2 metres; if used outdoors, a waterproof IP65 socket with a 30 mA RCD, installed by a qualified electrician.
• Daily. Inspect for signs of wear or oil leaks and keep the compactor clean.
• Monthly. Check oil level, all bolts, guards, cables and hydraulic hoses.
• Annually. Full service including oil change: 14 litres of Mobil DTE24 or equivalent oil.
• Safety. Do not use if cables or hoses are damaged, if there are leaks, or if any parts are loose; never allow anyone beneath the pressing plate.
