Paper strapping tape, 9–15 mm

This product is a paper strapping tape for bundling and securing, available in three widths: Available in 9 mm, 12 mm and 15 mm widths. It keeps items together in the same way as a PP strap, and can be recycled with cardboard waste.

It is intended for light to medium duty loads. Suitable for securing bundles of cartons, printed materials, profiles, trays and palletised items that require holding together rather than high tension.

When used in a strapping machine, the band is dispensed from a coil, wrapped around the bundle and sealed by the machine. The ECOBAND-S model processes paper and OPP band, 12 mm wide, from a coil with a 40 mm internal core diameter, up to 160 mm in diameter and 0.12 mm thick.

For manual use, it is fastened with a seal and a crimping tool. It is not suitable for use with friction-weld strapping machines designed for PP strapping, as those require the strap to be melted, which is not possible with paper.

Paper strapping band 9–15 mm in use

Paper strapping roll 9–15 mm is widely used in the printing, packaging, logistics and food sectors for securing bundles that must remain together during handling and movement, but where high tension is not necessary. It is also suitable for bundling items on pallets when the load is stable and does not require firm compression.

When paper is used instead of plastic

  • Single material with the carton. Bundles secured with paper banding can be placed directly into cardboard recycling, with no need to remove plastic strapping.
  • Available in three widths. 9 mm for smaller bundles, 12 mm for standard cartons, and 15 mm for heavier or sharper-edged bundles.
  • Prevents damage to goods. Paper banding distributes pressure across a broader, softer surface than narrow plastic strapping, which is important for printed cartons and delicate items.
  • Compatible with banding machines. The band feeds from a coil, allowing the machine to process and seal hundreds of bundles per day without manual handling.
  • Quiet and tidy operation. No heat, smoke, or melted plastic odour at the workstation.
  • Matches the packaging appearance. Brown paper blends with brown board, presenting the expected look for recyclable packaging.

  • Can be fastened in a banding machine, or manually using a seal and crimping tool
  • Not compatible with friction-weld machines intended for PP strap

Application method

  1. Position the coil on the machine’s spindle and thread the band through the guides, or bring a roll to the bundling station.
  2. Adjust the band width on the machine and, where possible, set the tension accordingly.
  3. Place the bundle beneath the band, or insert it into the arch of the banding machine.
  4. Allow the machine to wrap and secure the band around the bundle; if working by hand, apply the seal and crimp it.
  5. Inspect the first bundle at the start of the shift: the band should secure the stack without damaging the upper carton.

Storage and handling guidance

  • Tensioning. Paper bands tolerate moderate tension. If pulled as tightly as PP strap, they may tear and will not improve security.
  • Store in a dry environment. Damp paper loses its strength. Bands stored in humid areas or under leaks will not perform as those you tested.
  • Width for the bundle. A wider band distributes the load more effectively. For sharp edges, select a wider band or use a corner protector.
  • The reel. The core and outer diameter must suit the machine’s holder; in our range, this means a 40 mm core and up to 160 mm diameter.
  • Storage. Store indoors, in a dry place, off the floor, and in the original box. Paper absorbs moisture from concrete surfaces.
  • Not for PP machines. Friction-weld heads seal by melting the strap. Paper does not melt; such machines will simply cut through it.

Before placing your order

The price is displayed on this page. Paper strap is selected according to the bundle and the machine, so please check the following before placing your order:

  • Width. 9, 12 or 15 mm. Our banding machines are typically set up for 12 mm as standard.
  • Your strapping machine. A banding machine designed for paper or OPP strap, such as the ECOBAND-S. Please let us know your machine model so we can confirm the correct coil core and diameter.
  • Bundle weight. Paper strap is suitable for light to medium loads. For pallets requiring high tension, PET or PP strapping is recommended.
  • Dry or wet conditions. If goods are exposed to moisture or stored outdoors, paper strap is not suitable.
  • Manual or machine use. For manual application, seals and a crimping tool are required; for machine use, no additional items are needed.
  • Quantity required. Our 12 mm paper strap is supplied in rolls of 150 m. Calculate the metres needed per bundle and the number of bundles per week.
