Squeegee blades for the J115

These are the squeegee blades for the J115, with the front blade gathering water and the rear blade sealing to the floor as the vacuum removes it.

The front blade measures 1055 × 57 × 4 mm, and the rear blade is 1126 × 60 × 4.76 mm, covering the full 1080 mm squeegee width of the machine.

These blades ensure the floor is left dry after use. If a blade is worn, the 550 W vacuum draws in air instead of water, leaving the surface damp, streaky and potentially hazardous.

Squeegee blades are consumable parts, similar to brushes. They are rotated or replaced regularly, as the first sign of wear is a floor that needs to be cleaned twice.

How to change the strips

1. Park the machine, switch off the power and lower the squeegee for easy access.
2. Undo the clamping strip and remove the old rubber, noting the orientation of both strips.
3. Position the new strip on the pins, making sure a fresh edge faces down and the strip sits flat along its length.
4. Secure the clamp evenly along the strip, avoiding tightness at one end and slack at the other.
5. Lower the squeegee and adjust it level using the nut on the screw, then test on a wet area: no water line should remain.

Care and replacement advice

• Keep the squeegee level. It must make even contact across its width. If it tilts, one side dries while the other leaves a streak.
• Rotate the blade. Each blade has four usable edges. Rotate it when the first edge becomes rounded, and replace once all four are worn.
• Clean after each shift. Grit beneath the blade will damage it and mark the floor. Wipe down the blade and squeegee daily.
• Do not store bent. If left folded, the blade will keep its shape and will not seal properly again.
• Check for a water trail. A faint line of water behind the scrubber is an early sign that an edge is worn, well before it appears damaged.
• Inspect the vacuum hose as well. If fitting a new blade does not resolve a wet floor, check the hose, filter or recovery tank seal for faults.

• Quantity required. One set includes a front and a rear blade. Keep a spare set in stock. Replacing them is quick, but obtaining new ones takes time.
• Replacement frequency. This depends on the floor surface. Rough concrete wears blades faster, while sealed epoxy is less abrasive. Track usage by operating hours, not by months.
• Brushes as well. Brushes and blades wear at a similar rate. If your machine needs new blades, inspect the brushes too.
